Poet Quest 1

Inspiration

Write a poem warning your childhood self about a mistake you made.

Knowledge

Feet - Feet in poetry are like beats of rhythm. For this quest, I want you to think of one foot as two syllables.

For example:

I like to eat fresh fruit all day and all night long (12 beats = 6 feet)
To me, gluttony’s not the worst about what’s wrong (12 beats)

Encouragement

Nobody has to read what you write and you don’t need to get attached to your work. Though you may be inclined to care, try to remind yourself that this need only be a drill.

Challenge

Write a poem with 6 feet (12 syllables) per line, with as many lines as it takes to convey your thoughts. Use the inspiration for the day if you need ideas. Don’t worry about rhyming.

Then, if you’re up for it, share it in the comments or send it to us via carrier pigeon (e-mail) here for feedback. Please make sure to include the quest number in your email. Thank you!
