Dangerous World Out There

Gain control, a second too late
My tongue is in overdrive, a fist breaks my face
I’m on my back now
I’m shrimped on the floor
I let loose another, I’m ready for more

Blacking out, mind still fighting
I start to wonder, was my jaw hanging loose?
Is it just one jaw?
Does the chin make it two jaws?
Does it even matter now that a foot’s split my own jaw?

Last arousal, keep the mouth shut
My senses alarming, like being struck with a chair
I pull on a pant leg
A drink’s met my face
Get the last word, I’ll settle the score

Count teeth, hand supports the jaw
I remember what happened, but I still spell it out
Jaw pain, I’m senseless
My trolling complete
And alone I collapse next to my computer’s broken seat

Matt Antis creates online as a freelance writer and novelist who formerly lived as a serial small-business entrepreneur. His life’s goal is to share knowledge, encourage, and challenge others through a coach-student relationship.

An unexpected deployment with the Army in 2009 halted his scholastic achievement, but! He learned the bulk of business in the proverbial trench elbow to elbow with a team of professionals who he is forever grateful for.

When he’s not being a husband, dad, shooting his bow or training parkour, you can find him teaching Sunday school, advising parkour gyms, writing for inkjotkingdom.com and his wife’s children’s book website, whitneyantis.com.
