If I Were a Boyscout

Crunchy critters in the woods
Show me the sweet and salty goods
Bean burrito cooking up
Raspberry slurpee in my cup

Guide me from this forest spot
To food that’s mini-mart bought
Please forget the merit patch
Eat hotdogs without a match

Glowing light in the distance
Night flight of least resistance
The refrigerator’s glow
Motivates crawl commando

The first step: Easily done
I pick up speed on my run
Make it past the BBQ
Slide the back door, and break through

At last, in my home again
A boot strikes me in the chin
My navigational fault
Is what led to my assault

As my neighbor knocks my jaw
I dream about the bear claw
Warming in a mini-mart
I’ll eat it, if not torn apart
