Metered

I share a poem with my cute wife
She says to research meter, ah!
I pour my heart out on the page
She says it could be neater, ah!

I walk to work in pouring rain
In sun, in sleet, in wind, in snow
I write and write and write and write
And then, we drive up to my show

She says the presentation’s off
And needs to be improved
The words I chose were very nice
And made her feel quite moved

Sometimes my wife will say these things
And if you’d ever meet her
You’d be dead wrong to think her cold
When she tells me I really oughta look up how to fix my meter
