Searching Waves
Don’t know ‘bout radio activity
Why they carve wisemen on the nativity?
Not sure about empathy; I’ve got no pity
Not sure about mayonnaise
Or cashin’ in when I turn a phrase
But you’ll find me six feet under at the end of this maze
Never not got words
Just waitin’ to get heard
Don’t look at me now while I’m filppin’ the bird
In my reflection don’t like what I see
What I see is confused, scared itty bitty little me
Don’t watch me drown while I hold onto my crown
It’s too heavy but I’m ready to go down
As a permanent bottom crawlin’ fixture in the sea
What you know? This song’s all about lovin’ me
Pain without gain rocks me through the night
Sleep behind my eyelids shook awake, deal with fright
The salt on my pillow reminds me of the light
I hold on to the glow, reminder to behave
Of the sun, from below a wave
Inviting me to fight another day
