Muttered Words
In the series: Dark Night of the Soul - Part 1
Elevated thought
God who bought
Sinner’s debt
Put to rest
Apple Blossom
Extinguished glowing bar of light—
Her breath reveals the cold of night
Petals cloak the path toward safety
She grips her staff and turns bravely
Fear of Pain
Rather than ruining their future by justifying our past we should confess our wrongdoing and admit our shame. Yet the elite do the opposite.
Greed’s Sake
Public declaration that you plan to sue?
Why do you announce it, Mister Well-to-do?
Are you offering peace, do you need the hype?
Is that just an invitation for a bribe?
My Life In Shift
This poem is an exercise. I’m a writer, not a singer. I should be able to get into someone else’s head and write what they feel—what they want to sing or rap about.
Messenger of War
Don’t gaze too slow at the towering stronghold
Focus on the goal down the rolling long road
While the answer soars higher than the ramparts
This message is only for the cast down heart
Before the Arc
Expect a year of disparity
We’re slaves to government charity
Leaders treat you like you don’t matter
Elitist ears weary of chatter
It’s not like it’s an election year
They’ll inflate people with greed and fear
Great Escape
A warm breeze blows fluffy blankets to a basket from the clothesline
Raspy Fiddler croons by my fire while the sun sets past a road sign
Orange and the smell of pine ascends joining the scarlet sky
Gold trimmed Lady joins the song clinking needles on her starlit thigh
